Getting to Campus by Plane

The major airport gateways to Washington DC are:

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

in Virginia, 4 miles south of downtown Washington

Getting to campus from National:

Metro

If you’re not too weighted down with luggage, Metro is recommended. The Metro connects via enclosed walkway to the concourse level, of the main terminal, adjacent to terminals B and C. If you arrive in the “old” terminal, terminal A (Spirit, Air Tran, Midway, Northwest, and ATA) it is a bit trickier. From terminal A, the easiest way to get to the Metro is to head out to the curb and hop a shuttle bus to the station. Be sure to tell the driver you want to go to the Metro (it is not obvious, and Metro is not always an announced stop).Take a yellow line train (direction of Mount Vernon Square) to Gallery Place.  At Gallery Place, transfer to a red line train (direction of Glenmont).  Step out at the Brookland-CUA station and exit to the left when leaving the station.  Click here for a Metro map.

Taxi Service

Cab fare from the airport to CUA is approximately $20.  CUA's street address is 620 Michigan Avenue, NE. The Admissions Office is located in McMahon Hall.

Rental Cars

If you’re renting a car from one of the on-site car rental agencies (Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz, or National), go to level two, the concourse level, follow the pedestrian walkway to parking garage A. It is also possible to take the airport shuttle to parking garage A.

To get to campus by car, follow the directions from the South, I 95.

Washington Flyer Coach Service will take you non-stop to Metro's West Falls Church Station for just $9 one-way or $16 round-trip. The Washington Flyer Coach ticket counter is located at Arrivals Door #4 in the Main Terminal.

From the West Falls Church station take the orange line in the direction of New Carrollton to the Metro Center stop. At Metro Center, transfer onto the red line heading toward Glenmont. Step out at the Brookland-CUA station and exit to the left when leaving the station.  Click here for a Metro map.

Taxi Service

Cab fare from the airport to CUA is approximately $55.  CUA's street address is 620 Michigan Avenue, NE. The Admissions Office is located in McMahon Hall.

Rental Cars

Rentals from all the big-name companies are available at Dulles Airport: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty. From the ground transportation area, board a shuttle bus to the rental counters.

Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI)

in Maryland, about 30 miles to the northeast of Washington.

Getting to campus from BWI:

Public Transportation

If you are arriving on a weekday, MARC train is recommended. The MARC train will take you to Union Station where you can catch the Metro. From Union Station take the red line metro train toward Glenmont. Exit at Brookland-CUA station and exit to the left when leaving the station.  Click here for a Metro map.

If you arrive on a Saturday or Sunday, Metro is a good alternative to the MARC train. Metro runs an express bus (B30) between BWI and its Metro rail green line Greenbelt station. Click here for a schedule. From the Greenbelt station take the green line to the Fort Totten metro stop. At Fort Totten, transfer onto the red line heading toward Shady Grove. The Brookland-CUA station is just one stop away. Exit to the left when leaving the station.
